Interstate 94 Milwaukee Highway Project

Project Summary

Raise Rite Concrete Lifting was contacted by a roadway contractor working along Interstate 94 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, regarding an urgent issue with unstable concrete panels beneath the asphalt overlay. As heavy trucks traveled across the area, the panels exhibited noticeable rocking due to underlying settlement and voids. With only 36 hours available to address the problem and all work required to take place overnight to avoid traffic disruptions, the contractor turned to Raise Rite for a rapid and reliable solution. Our team immediately responded with a state DOT approved polyurethane injection plan designed to stabilize the slabs, fill the voids, and restore uniform support beneath the roadway. In addition to offering a more cost-effective solution, this method allowed for minimal traffic interruptions and a faster repair timeline compared to full roadway replacement

The Solution

A two-person Raise Rite crew mobilized the following evening and arrived at the site by 11:00 p.m. The contractor provided full traffic control to maintain safety and allow uninterrupted access to the affected area. Utilizing 955 pounds of HMI RR401 polyurethane, the crew injected material beneath the panels to fill the voids and restore stability. Once the main slabs were stabilized, the team proceeded to lift the roadway shoulders, ensuring proper alignment with the driving surface. All work was completed by 4:30 a.m., resulting in a total onsite duration of approximately 5.5 hours. After a brief 30 minute cure time for the polyurethane, traffic barriers were removed and the roadway was reopened for traffic. Despite the short notice and tight schedule, Raise Rite once again delivered a successful highway stabilization project with minimal disruption to the public.
