The Challenge
RaiseRite works with dairy and livestock farms across Wisconsin where small slab or equipment-base movements can quickly create larger operational problems.
At one Wisconsin dairy farm, the center pedestal base of a cow milking carousel had settled slightly to one side. The settlement was only about 1/8 to 1/4 inch, but it was enough to cause minor misalignment in the overhead pedestal mechanism.
The repair needed to be completed without stopping the carousel. For an active dairy operation, downtime can disrupt the milking schedule, affect production, and create unnecessary stress on the herd.
The Solution
The soil beneath the pedestal was sandy and coarse-grained, so RaiseRite used HMI’s HS030 single-component grout to stabilize the affected area through permeation grouting.
The crew injected approximately 600 lbs. of HS030 through 9 points on the side of the pedestal experiencing settlement. The goal was not a large lift, but targeted soil stabilization to help prevent further movement and reduce the risk of future equipment alignment issues.
